Why final exams suck...
After a semester of onerous reading loads, and often pointless class discussions, by the time we write our final papers, our brains are pathetic and withered blobs, hardly capable of demonstrating our knowledge or writing skills. No one should be subjected to weeks of solid academic writing, as it kills the love of learning...I start with a topic I find interesting, but by the time I'm nearing completion, I never want to see another bit of information on the same topic again. This hardly promotes scholarship. It just makes me want to stick my head in the sand. I'm sure I'll disavow this heresy in a week or so when it's all over...okay...back to papers. Blah.
